Challenge
Lightning, tornados, flash floods, and other forms of severe weather pose serious, life threatening danger to field service technicians
and other outdoor workers. Because of their dispersed and mobile nature, timely communication with these work groups has historically
been difficult.
Solution
Jaduka's Broadcast Messaging service is the backbone of an automated solution that receives a real-time data feed from an Online weather
service and instantly broadcasts both SMS and audio alerts to field service technicians warning of the severe weather danger and advising
them to take shelter.
Scenario
A regional Southwestern utility company needed a better way to warn its 120 field service technicians of severe weather. It previously
relied on its dispatch center to call each of the twelve team leaders when there was lightning detected within a ten mile radius of the
service area. In turn, the team leaders were responsible for calling each of their techs to alert them of the danger. However, the
process took too long and broke down in practical application, leaving many of the company's service technicians exposed to dangerous
conditions. After a couple nearly fatal "close calls," a task force was formed to develop an automated solution.
Today, with the company's newly installed Weather Alerts & Real-time Notification System (WARNS), developed with Jaduka's services
and technologies, every field service technician immediately receives a voice alert and text message when severe weather is reported
in their area.
Impact
By removing the potential for human error from mission-critical applications and processes, businesses can better protect their
employees and company assets.
